Information we handle

  • Account information: your email address, account identifier, verification and authentication records, and the sessions needed to sign you in.
  • Applications and profile work: company facts, applicant contact and role information, supporting URLs, explanations, representative requests, private drafts and review history that you provide or that we generate while handling a request.
  • Correspondence: messages and contact details you send us, along with information reasonably needed to respond.
  • Public business information: names, websites, recorded business locations, capabilities and related information collected from official sources or reviewed submissions. Business-facing information may sometimes also identify an individual.
  • Technical information: requests, connection and security logs, including information such as IP addresses, device/browser details and timestamps handled by infrastructure providers. The application also uses hashed email/IP-based keys to limit abuse of email-code requests.

Why we use information

We use information to operate accounts, verify email access, process and review applications, assess representative requests, maintain company records, respond to correspondence and send service messages. We also use information to prevent abuse, investigate problems and protect the integrity of the directory.

Where data protection law requires a legal basis, the relevant basis depends on the activity: providing a service you request, legitimate interests in operating and protecting a business directory, legal obligations, or consent where a particular activity requires it. We do not treat publication on an official website as unrestricted permission to use personal information for any purpose.

Public records and private submissions

Published company profiles and editorial articles are public. Account email addresses, applicant messages, supporting claim material and private editing drafts are not intended for publication just because an application is submitted.

Editors review submitted material and may use relevant company facts in a public record. Do not submit identity documents, sensitive personal information or confidential third-party material unless specifically requested through an appropriate process. If information about you appears in a public record and you have a concern, contact us with the record URL.

Service providers and disclosures

We use Supabase for database and account services, Resend for transactional email delivery, and Sanity for public editorial content. Infrastructure, email and mailbox providers may process information needed to deliver and secure those services. Email services may retain delivery and engagement metadata according to their configured mail settings.

We may disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with applicable legal requirements, respond to valid legal requests, protect rights or investigate misuse. We do not sell account or application data, and submitting information does not automatically share your private contact details with listed suppliers.

Service providers may process information outside the place where you live, including the United States. If you need information about arrangements relevant to your data, contact us. This policy does not claim that all information is stored in a single country.

Cookies and browser storage

Authentication uses cookies or similar session mechanisms to keep you signed in and protect account access. Saved-company preferences use local browser storage; those saved company identifiers are not automatically synchronized to your account. You can clear them through your browser settings, although clearing session storage or cookies can sign you out.

The current public directory does not include advertising or third-party behavioural analytics tools. If optional tracking is introduced, this notice and any required choices will need to be updated. External company websites and the Sanity editor may use their own cookies and policies.

How long information is kept

We keep account information while it is needed to provide the account and related services. Applications, review records and correspondence are kept for as long as reasonably needed to resolve requests, maintain reliable records, prevent misuse or meet applicable obligations. Retention depends on the type of information, the status of the account or request, and any unresolved dispute or legal requirement.

Public company information may remain in the directory while it is relevant and supportable. Account closure does not automatically remove factual company information obtained independently from official sources. Removal or restriction requests are assessed separately. Deletion may also be subject to backup cycles and necessary security or legal retention; we do not promise an immediate automatic deletion process.

Your choices and requests

Depending on the law applicable to you, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of personal information, object to or restrict certain uses, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. You may also be able to complain to an applicable data protection authority.

To make a request, contact hi@theindustrialbase.com and describe the information or account concerned. We may verify your identity before responding and will explain any applicable limits or reasons we cannot fulfil a request. Business-profile corrections can also be submitted through the directory.

Security, external websites and changes

We use access controls and separate public company records from private account and review data. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Protect your email account and do not share sign-in codes.

Links to supplier websites or other services take you to sites governed by their own practices. The Industrial Base does not control those sites. The service is intended for professional business use rather than use by children.

We may update this policy as the service changes. The date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be communicated where required.
